I create landscape paintings that represent my visual expression of a strangely abstract domain. The non-representational landscape and portal-like compositions create an illusionistic world that allows the viewer to decide what forms are familiar to them. Correlations between my work and today's environmental issues can be perceived. Elements within my landscapes point to references of the destruction of nature through human development. Similarly to the cycle that any functioning environment relies on, the circular composition prevalent in my work represents the connection between every aspect of a community and the impact that each facet will inevitably have on the next. The free expression of form within each piece supports my idea of self-determining ones own interpretation of the landscape.
